Posted by Bernard Chandler on 15 April 2021 07:02 PM

Newer versions of NotifyRDS Android client can now use the accessibility service to remote control the device.  This will allow for more devices to have remote control abilities.   The accessibility service will only be available with Android devices that have:

  • A NotifyRDS version of 3.5.5 or higher
  • Running an Android operating system version of 8.x or higher
    • Note:  Android 10 or higher operating systems may have the same permission popup after the initial permission popup

To enable the accessibility service feature:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Navigate to Installed services (Settings > Accessibility or Privacy)
  3. Locate and tap on NotifyRDS
  4. Turn on the button to the right
  5. Tap Allow or OK on the permission popup

Note:  One feature that is not available with accessibility service is keyboard character input being sent directly to the device.  That feature is only available when the NotifyRDS Add-on for a device vendor.  For example:  If you are using a Samsung device that has Knox installed, you would need to install the NotifyRDS Add-on: Samsung to have the keyboard character input being sent directly to the device.
