NotifyLink ActiveSync Solution:

If the Password pattern requirement is enforced via the NotifyLink security Password Rules, the pattern that is actually required will depend on the ActiveSync device type.

iPhone
The password must have at least N characters (whatever is specified as the required password length), at least one number, at least one letter, and at least one symbol that is neither number or letter.  Example:  If 8 characters are required, a valid password would be: 321.qwer


Windows Mobile
The password must have at least N characters (whatever is specified as the required password length), and must have one of 3 out of 4 character types. 
-Uppercase letters
-Lowercase letters
-Numbers
-Anything else
Example:  If 8 characters are required, a valid password would be: Unlock77
