SyncML connection fails when using SSL (Oracle 10.1.2)

This issue applies to Oracle 10.1.2 when attempting to use SyncML over HTTPS. If SyncML is successful over HTTP, but fails when attempting to use HTTPS, the cause could be the configuration of Webcache. The default Webcache configuration does not allow SyncServer to work in SSL re-using the SSL port of Webcache.

This issue is described in 'Oracle Collaboration Suite Security Guide 10g Release 1 (10.1.2)', Chapter 7, section 7.3.7 (Enabling SSL Between Oracle Mobile Data Sync Server and OracleAS Webcache).

The solution is to bypass Webcache and configure the Oracle Mobile Access Data Sync client so that it directly communicates with the HTTPS port of Oracle HTTP Server.
Please note: This requires opening another port on the firewall.
