Posted by Account Management Team on 28 October 2009 03:40 PM

Companies with numerous Public Folders for Exchange 2007 may notice performance issues with NLES Gleaner.  If this occurs or if Public Folder access is not needed through IMAP, access can be disabled.  (Disabling IMAP access does NOT affect Public Folders in Outlook or Web Access.)  To disable Public Folders through IMAP, use the following steps:

1. Open Exchange System Manager

2. Expand the ‘Administrative Groups' node

3. Expand the ‘First Administrative Group' node

4. Expand the ‘Servers' node

5. Expand the node for the Exchange server that will be configured

6. Expand the ‘Protocols' node

7. Expand the ‘IMAP4' node

8. Right click on the ‘Default IMAP4 Virtual Server' and select ‘Properties'

9. Select the ‘General' tab

10. Uncheck ‘Include all pubic folders when a folder list is requested'

11. Click ‘Apply' and then ‘OK'
