Remote Lookup allows a user, from a registered device to do a ‘global' lookup for Contacts from an existing LDAP server.  In order to be able to perform this Lookup, you will need to have NotifyLink configured for access into the LDAP Server.  In order for this to occur, you may want to review the below information.

Enterprise Customers:

In order to setup LDAP for the Remote Lookup feature, you first will need to configure NotifyLink in the administrative console to allow access.

Once logged into the Administrative Console If you go to Server Administration -> LDAP Servers.  If NO server is available, you will want to select ‘Add LDAP Server' which will take you to a screen which you will need to populate.

Within this location you will need to populate certain fields:

-LDAP Server Name

-LDAP Server Address

-LDAP Port

-BaseDN

**Note #1:  If you are running SSL, you will also need to checkmark the ‘Use SSL' field, IF SSL (HTTPS) is enabled.

**Note #2:  If, you know some of your LDAP Attributes are not defaults, you may also need to select ‘Edit LDAP Attributes' to configure these Attributes within NotifyLink to match your configuration.

**Note #3: Once the server has been created, you will also want to go into User Administration -> select the account or a account in question -> Edit User.  Within Edit User, you WILL want to make sure that an LDAP server has been defined for the user accounts.  You should see a drop-down appear within this field in order to allow you to select the LDAP server the account was configured for.

On-Demand Customers:

In order to setup NotifyLink for Remote Lookup, you will need to provide your LDAP configuration information.

The information which will be mandatory:

-LDAP Server Name

-LDAP Server Address

-LDAP Port

-BaseDN

As well, any potential login information.  Once this information has been populated and the exact user account confirmed to have a LDAP server configured within Edit User of the NotifyLink Console, the account should be able to successfully perform a look-up from the users device.

IF you are unsure of your LDAP values and BaseDN Information:

You can look into downloading and configuring Softerra LDAP Browser. This is a free download and can be retrieved from the below link:

http://www.softerra.com/download.htm

When this browser is configured and you are able to login successfully, the Properties of the Initial ‘Tree' will provide you with your Base DN information.  As well prove that a login and login information used is setup and configured properly.

Additionally, when selecting a user within the LDAP Browser you can match the attribute values with those within Edit LDAP Attributes within the NotifyLink Administrative Console also.
