For a contact created on iPhone, default country does not sync to server

A contact created on the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad with the country field left as the default, is not synchronized to the server.

A workaround is to change the default country and then change it back to the default before saving the contact. 
The device contact will then show the country in the address summary and will synchronize it to the server correctly.
