Message data is garbled in the message list and message view

Messages in the message list become garbled and the text associated with the sender and/or the subject are mangled and possibly unreadable. The items in the message view screen when viewing a message also are garbled and the text associated with the header and/or the message body are mangled and possibly unreadable.
Testing has shown that this is caused by a bug in the device system software that results in memory corruption and ultimately the corruption of the messages in the NotifyLink or NotifySync application. This only applies to device operating system software versions prior to 4.2. This usually occurs when there is a large set of messages on the device (~2000), however, it is not directly linked to the overall free memory of the device. The only solution to this problem is to upgrade the device operating system software to version 4.2 or later.
To restore a device that is in this state you must must reinstall NotifyLink or NotifySync and resynchronize with your server account. The best practice is to also reduce the amount of Email and PIM data that will be synchronized to the device to prevent a reoccurrence of the same problem.
