Native mail will not sync after initial enrollment

Android devices enrolling with NotifyMDM via a native ActiveSync account, against an Exchange 2003 mail server may not synchronize after the initial enrollment.

This seems to occur when the device is in Direct Push mode. A device set to synchronize at intervals or by a manual synchronization are successful.  B11921

This is an issue with the device and has been observed on:

-LG Nexus 5
