Issue User has an IT Policy in place on their Blackberry device that is preventing NotifyLink from processing properly
Solution Perform item #4, (BlackBerryResetToFactory.bat) in Knowledge Base article 709 to remove the IT Policy. http://support.notifycorp.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/659/4/utilities-to-extract-information-from-blackberry-devices-when-troubleshooting-notifylink-or-notifysync
__________________________________ Most of the time the solution above will remove the policy. If for some reason this does not work you can try the following:
First, if possible, do the following:
Devices that have interfaced with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) prior to being used with a NotifyLink Enterprise Server or with NotifySync, need to be returned to the default (or blank) BES IT Policy set before they can be used with Notify Technology software products.
Before installing NotifyLink Device Client or NotifySync on the device:
a) From the BES, send the default (or blank) IT policy to the device.
b) Make sure the device is no longer connected to the BES.
c) Make sure the network carrier's BIS service books are present on the device. From the device Home screen, select Options > Advanced Options > Service Book.
This will remove any unknown restrictions which may prohibit you using your Notify service. If your BES administrator wishes to have a policy remain on your device, please contact Notify support at technical@globoplc.com. We will request a copy of the policy to ensure your Notify service will work.
A possible workaround:
Perform the following steps using the policy.bin file found in the Downloads section of this Support Center. If this does not work, the only other solution is to push out a blank policy from an actual BES server.
Step 1 Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again. If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.
Step 2 Save the policy.bin to your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).
The policy.bin is attached below.
Step 3 Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options -> Security -> General -> Blackberry Menu -> Wipe Handheld on the Device. If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest OS for your device. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.
Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.
Step 5 From the Windows XP Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to:
HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager
Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to:
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin
Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device. Verification
Once complete, the Options/Security screen on your Blackberry should not contain references to an IT Policy, you should now be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications.
