NotifyMDM devices are unable to send email with attachments through NotifyMDM email account

Behavior

  • The user receives an error when trying to send an attachment from within an another app through the NotifyMDM email account.
    • For example: a user tries to send a picture within the Camera Roll using the Email or Share option with the NotifyMDM email account and gets an error.
  • The email is sent, but is shown as if it was sent from an account other than the NotifyMDM email account. This occurs even when the NotifyMDM email account is the only account on the device.

Solution

Enable these iOS Devices Application Policy setting (From the Organization Management view, navigate to Policy Management > Policy Suite > iOS Devices > Applications):

  • Allow managed app documents to open in unmanaged apps
  • Allow unmanaged app documents to open in managed apps

After the policy change is passed down to the device, the user should be able to attach items to the NotifyMDM email account from other applications using Email or Share option.

 Note: This would only affect NotifyMDM users running iOS version 7 and above. Users with older iOS versions would not be affected.
